Steven E. Mayer, M.D. earned his Bachelor of Science in biology with distinction from Indiana University in 1998 and received his medical degree in 2002 from Indiana University School of Medicine. After completing a one-year internship at Michigan State University-Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies in 2003, Dr. Mayer served his three-year residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
Dr. Mayer specializes in the diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of spine and musculoskeletal disorders. He has a special interest in treating the injured athlete. In addition to electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCV), Dr. Mayer performs fluoroscopically-guided lumbar epidural, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, as well as peripheral joint and trigger point injections. He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the North American Spine Society and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Mayer joined OAD Orthopaedics in July of 2006 and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is board certified in Physiatry with a Subspecialty Certification in Sports Medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
