Mir Haroon Ali, M.D., Ph.D. graduated from Glenbard West High School in 1992 and completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Chicago in 1996. He remained at The University of Chicago as a member of the prestigious National Institutes of Health MD/PhD program. Studying the effects of mechanical forces on cellular signaling and function for his Ph.D. dissertation, he obtained his Ph.D. in cellular biology & pathology in 2002. He graduated from The University of Chicago - Pritzker School of Medicine with his medical degree in 2004. He successfully completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency training at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in 2009. Having a particular interest in the treatment of lumbar and cervical spine disorders, he then completed an orthopaedic spine surgery fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois in 2010. During his fellowship training, he learned a variety of operative and nonoperative treatments of neck and back disorders from orthopaedic surgeons, neurological surgeons, physiatrists, and pain specialists.
In 2009, Dr. Ali successfully passed the first part of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery certification examination and joined OAD Orthopaedics in August 2010. He is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the North American Spine Society.
Dr. Ali specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of neck and back disorders, including microscopic surgery and reconstructive surgery of the cervical and lumbar spine. His special interests include:

- Lower back pain (acute and chronic)
- Neck arthritis (spondylosis/stenosis)

- Lumbar deformity (spondylolisthesis, scoliosis)
- Osteoporotic compression fractures
- Spinal trauma (cervical and thoracolumbar)
- Spinal infections (osteomyelitis, discitis, abscesses)
