Spine — Back and Neck

OAD's Spine Center consists of board certified Spine Surgeons who have vast training and experience in all facets of spine-back and neck/cervical spine disorders including cervical disc replacements. OAD's Spine-Back and Neck Specialists are fellowship-trained from prestigious medical facilities such as Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital Midwest Regional Spine Trauma Center, Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, and the Mayo Clinic. Fellowship training is an additional period of training selected by physicians wanting to subspecialize in specific areas. OAD's Spine-Back and Neck Specialists' extensive fellowship training, coupled with more than 55 years' combined orthopaedic experience, ensure patients receive the most advanced, expert spine care.

The Spine Center focuses on conservative approaches to the management of back and neck conditions. Areas of specialty include low back pain, sciatica, cervical and lumbar degenerative disc disease, cervical and lumbar herniated discs, stenosis, and spinal deformity.

To provide the most comprehensive spine care, OAD's Spine Center includes a team of board certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians. Known as Physiatrists, OAD's physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists are medical doctors and have expertise in the nonsurgical management of spine/back, neck and musculoskeletal pain and conditions. The physiatrists' conservative approaches to treating numerous orthopaedic problems that do not, and may never, require surgical intervention, are integral to OAD providing a complete range of subspecialty care and services.

If surgery is required, OAD's spine surgeons are extensively trained in spinal surgery, including the new state-of-the-art cervical disc replacements. Other procedures include microsurgery of the lumbar and cervical spine, minimally invasive surgery, revision and reconstruction of the spine, discectomies, spinal fusions, and laparoscopic anterior lumbar spinal fusion with Bone Morphogenetic Protein (rh-BMP). OAD's Spine Center is also involved in a FDA study for a viscoelastic cervical disc replacement.

Conservative approaches to spine and neck conditions often prove successful.
